Room of the Week: Salon de Chinois

Everyone loves seeing a makeover with the before and after.  This week's room is from designer Timothy Corrigan at the Chateau du Grand-Luce in France's Loire Valley.

From Architectural Digest- "Corrigan points to the Salon de Chinois as his favorite room in the chรขteau.  The walls were originally painted by the artist Jean-Baptiste Pillement- one of Marie Antoinette's official painters- and the salon is one of only three surfing rooms painted by him in the world.  The murals depict the Western idea of life in 18th-century China."

Visit Architectural Digest's website here to see the entire slideshow of the Chateau de Grand-Luce.

Room of the Week: John Jacob Interiors

This room has been popping up lately on my Pinterest feed, but it keeps linking back to other blogs with no credit to the designer, so today I did a little digging and found a new favorite designer to swoon over- John Jacob located in Cape Town, South Africa.  I am in love with his entire portfolio you view here on his website.

This is such an elegant room, yet still very cozy and inviting.  The large windows on either side let the natural light pour in, but I would love to see this room glow at night.  I imagine I could stay up all night by that fire reading a good book on the comfy, slipcovered sofas.  Also, imagine how wonderful it would be to start your day sipping a cup of Earl Grey tea, wrapped up in the red blanket draped over the arm of the sofa that is patiently waiting for you, as the first rays of sunlight creep in to fill the room with daylight.

Yes, I could mostly definitely spend all my days and nights in this room.

Snow Day!

So we finally had our first day of snow here in Winston-Salem this winter!  Everything is covered in a blanket of white and is glistening in the sunlight today.  I've created a nice little snow day nest on the sofa and plan to hide under my favorite faux fur blanket from Pottery Barn and drink peppermint hot cocoa all day until the snow melts.

This winter wonderland has me dreaming of escaping to a cabin in the woods… here are a few rooms I would love to curl up in on a snow day!

For more of my favorite snow day rooms check out my Pinterest board Style: Cabin in the Woods.

I hope you all stay cozy today!  I'm going back now to my nest and taking full advantage of this snow day.
