Mint Juleps and Derby Style Coming Soon

Tomorrow, I'll be having a photo shoot for my next blog update coming out Wednesday.  Next Saturday, May 3rd is the 140th Kentucky Derby and I'll have some inspirational photos and ideas for you on how to decorate and celebrate for your own Derby Party at home!  I'll also have a FREE download of a printable invite!

Since the official drink of the Kentucky Derby is the Mint Julep, here is a recipe from Martha Stewart on how to create the classic cocktail:

Source: Martha Stewart
Ingredients:
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon water
8 fresh mint leaves, plus sprigs for garnish
1 cup crushed ice
2 2/3 ounces (1/3 cup) bourbon

Directions:

Stir together sugar and water in a mint julep cup (or 8-ounce glass) until sugar dissolves.  Add mint, and muddle gently using a muddler or wooden spoon.  Fill with crushed ice, and add bourbon.  Stir until outside of cup is frosted.  Garnish with mint sprigs
